Simulation has been recognized in the history of militarytraining, medical education and aviation coaching. Currently,simulation has been integrated in nursing educationand skill development for both nurses and students.Clinical simulation-based training has become a popularapproach in teaching and curriculum building. This is becausesimulation-based education presents real-life situationalexperiences with opportunities for clinical practiceand decision-making skills.The presentation will provide an overview of simulationtechniques that have been used in nursing education programsfor post and undergraduate students and nurses.It will also present some evidence of the impact of usingsimulation training on patients’ outcomes. Additionally,some examples and recommendations will be providedthat could help in developing your simulation program.On the other hand, despite the high recognition to usesimulation as a viable tool for teaching and maybe research,we cannot ignore the potential challenges of usingsimulation. Such as, creating realism as poor validityis associated with lack of realism. Simulation instructorsneed to consider tractability of the simulation activity,correspondence to real life and learners’ engagement.
